TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES IN SCIENCE, MEDICINE & ENGINEERING HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN TORONTO, ON SATURDAY JULY 5TH, 2008 For registration, please visit http://www.sickkids.ca/HSCdirectory/personalProfile.asp?pID=8370 For further details, please contact Ms Linda Quintal at Linda.quintal@sickkids.ca
Within the last five years, the knowledge in medicine, science, mathematics and engineering has greatly expanded. New technologies in molecular medicine, modeling, nanoengineering and others are expected to affect bio-systems of all scale – from medicine to environment. Advances in instrumentations and precise measurement tools have helped to detect problems at an early stage and devise appropriate solutions on time. This one-day TASME conference and exhibition will provide an ideal opportunity to learn recent advances in different fields. It will also allow the participants to interact with other key scientific community members including scientists, professors, students, mathematicians, engineers and medical professionals from the public and private sectors. Selected TASME participants will present their recent findings and experiences in the conference to foster multi-disciplinary collaborative projects among the participants.

Relay for life will take place in the University Community Centre from 7 PM to 7AM. This fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society is a way to celebrate the strength of cancer survivors while raising money to continue the fight against cancer. Participants enter teams of 7-12 people, with at one person walking on the track at all times throughout the night. The event kicks off with a memorable opening ceremony, in which we will have performances and guest speakers coming to talk about their experiences with cancer. Throughout the night there is programming such as band performances, karaoke, pick-up sports, games, and dance lessons! Food and drinks will also be provided throughout the night. This year, we are hoping for record participation numbers. Please join us in our celebration by forwarding to club members and encouraging everyone to participate.----uworelayforlife2008@gmail.com -----
